My guess is his hair loss is a result of a combination of genetics and all the extensions/chemicals/etc. he put in his hair through the years. And quite possibly all the drugs he has done have had an effect on how he looks today. Here's Boy George now:

boy george's hairline has always been slightly receding! if you look at the first pic, even, you can see how his hairline pushes back =)
